Joan, I am soooo glad I met you. You are indeed an inspiration to me. I am trying to follow your example and you have me huffing and puffing to keep up... but I love it.:-))) We are on the cutting edge for OUR jazz because most of our fellow traditionalists are not hip to the cyber-power at our fingertips. I just loaded 14 originals of mine on ReverbNation. These are synthesized versions where I am playing all the parts. I made these tracks between 1989 and 1991. Please feel free to use them and give me an opinion of them. Each of them has a lyric as well.

Love, Nelson

You are awesome and I am so glad we met.  Have a fantastic day and I look forward to us talking again soon.  I will try to catch the radio show as well.  I want to learn how to do that.  You are a gutsy woman with style and I am honored to be in your presence and learn from you.

Have a fantastic day!!!

Have a great time in Houston. Sell tons of books Ms. Diva JC!

And my congrats on your finalized gaining non-profit status..

I think you are one of those 'super leaders' and the seeds you are planting will in time  become beautiful roses for millions of people. You have a 'big lot'; much to do and all I can say is you are loved and respected by me and many others.

Don't limit yourself in number of books, Joan. I would forget numbers and let the holy spirit take over.

I do listen more then you think. I am still a complete sponge and when it appears I am not listening, it is because everything you are saying is going through me. You would probably be shocked to know what I have learned from you!

You pass on noble thoughts, Ms. JC, by keeping us all looking at that mirror and how else to change and grow?  Even though our mirrors need a wee bit of cleaning and rearranging now and again!

Much continued Success, Joan Cartwright, Musicwoman ahead of her time!

Joan,

Just want you to know that my wife has found your book [In Pursuit of a Melody] absolutely fascinating and very humorous. She'll be reading silently and suddenly break out in laughter. I think it's because she can relate to some of your life experiences.

What a rich, fascinating life you've lead and, book you wrote

A.D. Smith, keyboardist

beautiful..tks for sharin'..your spirit writings.

ya child joan..ya child that made it thru it all and is still gigglin' having fun..thats what i heard in your voice in that video..that child! untouched..you made it thru untouched! you said 'you are gonna live in mansions!' an i thought; damnit i am!~

i run like the friggin road runner from those whose little child in them has died .i run from those saying; 'better be careful; dont do that dont do this'

thats why i loved interviewing dr. michio kaku..!! his child exudes through his voice..he is having the time of his life creating new worlds on mars...discovering black holes..you heard him...!! he is busy taking elevator rides to other planets while most 'peeps' have forgotten they can create new worlds too!

ONLY thing that keeps my creativity going? playing ..make believe/dress up..dreamin and being a child..my souls spirit is ON FIRE..my soul is the child that doesnt give a damned if i fall on my face..it just gets up..and learns something else. an ya - finding my way

Joan,

I found your autobiography to be fascinating and engrossing with an impressive photo collection of musicians who have touched your life.

I am so proud of you for what you've done with your life since we first met 3 decades ago. I especially admire your discipline in doing the hard work that has resulted in publishing an important resource book--specifically, your process of becoming the consummate singer/entertainer that you are--generally, it's a value as a guide for how aspiring singers can survive and succeed in the music business.

Received your package 2 days ago and have already read a good portion of your book (I learned to speed read years ago). Had no idea that it is an autobiography! Many adjectives of praise come to mind but suffice to say, it is fascinating and should count for your Ph.D. Job well done!!

Love and Light.

Joan is a visionary entrepreneur who is a veteran performer and pioneer in the Women's Jazz Movement. She has organized festivals and educational programs worldwide as well as in her immediate vicinity of South Florida. Her presentations have been well received by her diverse audiences as enjoyable and educational. She has been a cutting edge advocate for Women in Jazz representing the movement in Europe, China and throughout the U.S. She had also built bridges between jazz and hip hop on CD, the internet and in person. I recommend her as a consultant, speaker, performer, historian, and educator of the highest caliber.

Wow! There is so much knowledge being given in this book. It reminds me of a music textbook. I'm finding it very informative and it's nice to have a lot of the pictures that I did not get from our trips.

The CD was different! Pop Music and a couple of other tunes didn't really seem to fit in with the rest of the CD but, you're nothing, if not different, my lady, ok!

Joan's book is entertaining from beginning to end. I could feel the warmth of her family history and hear her singing in the songs she wrote. I could hear her voice singing "A Woman Knows". I must say Joan could not have done better, for it's her, all the way. I applaud Joan and wish her luck in all her travels on this earth, for we only pass this way once.

I have known Joan Cartwright for over 25 years. When she told me that her book was finished and was to be published, I could hardly wait to buy it and read it, as I was so proud and excited, too.

In Pursuit of a Melody is an insightful journey through the life and musical experiences of Joan Cartwright. She has skillfully painted the pages with an in-depth and detailed pallet of colors that could only be brought forth through her vast experiences. The way in which she has interwoven the titles and lyrics of songs throughout the chapters is just ingenious and, of course, her compositions are diverse and soulful.

Joan Cartwright is a mother, performer, singer, traveler and writer of music and books. She has a most wonderful story to tell and share.

Joan’s book exemplifies the phrase, “Reading can take you on a journey.” You are actually on a whirlwind of traveling and visiting exciting places, engaging in fantastic activities. So many wonderful musicians, singers, talented people have touched Joan’s life .Oh! The pictures tell their own story as they appear full of love of each other and of their professions. The family pictures display the warmth of loving, devoted people. As you read, you want to read faster to get a glimpse of what is next. Wonderful reading and beautiful pictures!
